About the Foundation
The John F. Kennedy High School Educational Foundation was created in 2006 as a nonprofit, tax-exempt corporation, the purpose of which is to raise funds for programs that will have a substantial and lasting impact on Kennedy High School students and their community.
At JFK, our student body is a world community, comprised of families from many cultures and students who were born in over 80 countries. We come together daily on the common ground of our mutual greatest hope: A high school learning community in which all students thrive.
While our academy high school does not charge tuition, excellence never comes free. The JFK Educational Foundation seeks to harness the common hopes and evergy of this wonderful community in a way that builds a solid financial infrastructure for the innovative academic programs of our high school. We seek to unleash the power of the Kennedy High School community.
The Foundation raises funds through a variety of means, described on this website. It will disburse those funds through JFK programs, administrators, teachers, and students in ways that will support our mission of bringing together our entire community and uplifting our students.
The Foundation is governed by a board of volunteer community leaders, business owners, current and former teachers, parents, administrators, and alumni.

The John F. Kennedy High School Educational Foundation, Inc. was incorporated as a non-profit corporation under the laws of Maryland in Novermber, 2006. The JFKHS Foundation is a private organization, led by parents, administrators and members of the Kennedy High School community.
The Foundation is run by a Board of Directors that includes alumni, current and former Kennedy parents, retired teachers, community and business leaders. The Board approves all major actions such as fundraising and allocation of funds.
FUNDING CRITERIA
The Foundation Board carefully reviews applications for funding through its Legacy Grant Program. Our criteria include overall planning and implementation, objectives, number of students reached, and method of evaluation. Each project is evaluated to determine the need for the program or activity, and the impact it will have on the school.
The Foundation's goal is to support academic excellence for the diverse student population of Kennedy High School. Because we know we are just one of many links
between the school and the community, we plan to work closely with the school
administration, the PTSA and other parent groups, and Kennedy alumni to set priorities, coordinate support for the school, and monitor our grants.
