Legacy Grant Program

The foundation encourages innovative proposals and collaborative efforts across disciplines and between school administration, teachers, students, parents, and community. Annual funding selections of the Foundation will strive to serve the diverse student population.

Applications will be judged using the following guidelines:
- Proposals must be consistent with the Foundation’s mission.
- Proposals must clearly demonstrate the need (programmatic and financial) for the request.
- Proposal must designate a point of contact or project manager who will be responsible for implementing the request and who will be accountable for appropriate use of grant funds.
- Proposals must include an evaluation component.

Grant Guidelines: Proposal due date is as follows:
October 15th for review by November 15th

Send completed forms to grants@jfkedfoundation.org

In order to be considered for funding, all applicants must complete the general application form and provide the following information:
- A description of the program or activity for which funding is requested, including relevant background, objectives, and implementation plan
- Current budget, in any, including sources of support (both monetary and in-kind)
- Proposed budget for the requested funding
- Anticipated impacts
- Evaluation plan

All proposals received are reviewed by the Foundation’s Proposal Review Committee, which presents funding recommendations to the Board of the Foundation. The Committee may request additional information at any time during the review process.

If a grant is awarded, the recipient will be expected to provide regular reports to the Foundation on the progress of the activity and the expenditure of grant funds. Specific reporting requirements will be included with each notice of grant award.

Funding Priorities:
1.
Achievement. We are looking to fund programs or activities that will boost academic achievement at JFK, preferably in a measurable way.
2. Necessity. We have one deadline a year by which grant proposals must be submitted. We are not an auxiliary PTSA or an emergency fund for the school. We are an independent foundation focused on achievement-oriented programs.
3. Efficiency. There are many outstanding programs designed to improve achievement currently in place at JFK. We do not intend to reinvent the wheel. We encourage projects that improve and support these programs and that address needs that are not currently being met at JFK.
4. Innovation. Don't be afraid to think big. If the JFK Foundation cannot fund the request, we may find another organization who will.
5. Accountability. The program or project must have a sponsor here at JFK who will commit to seeing it through and report back on results.
