Building a Strong Foundation for Excellence
Welcome to the John F. Kennedy High School Educational Foundation (KEF), a community-action organization dedicated to boosting achievement of students at Kennedy High School, and strengthening the Kennedy community of students, families, alumni and supporting businesses.
The Foundation boosts student achievement primarily through its Legacy Grant Program, a unique program for targeting resources where and how they are most needed. The Legacy Grant Program looks backward and forward. It seeks to close the legacy gap of the past, and simultaneously allow Kennedy’s current stakeholders and alumni to lay claim to a unique legacy of achievement to be shared with all future graduates of JFK.
KEF raises funds through special events, grants from outside funders, local business support, and alumni contributions. Beginning in 2010, KEF is pleased to announce a special new partnership with Cherry Planet, Inc., which will allow us to bring special discounts to the Kennedy community while raising funds for KEF’s Legacy Grant program. The program is simple. Before you go out to eat, buy a gift, sign up for karate, go to a salon, or spend any money at all, check out the deals and bargains on CherryPlanet.com. There you will find exclusive coupons for many businesses in our area (though not just yet because we’ve just begun our partnership). Every time you purchase a coupon for a business that has signed up through KEF, Cherry Planet donates 10% of the purchase price to KEF. In short, as you save yourself money through discount coupons, you also raise money for Kennedy High School. Further information about the program is available at the Cherry Planet link on this page. If you have a business or service that would like to be a part of KEF’s Cherry Planet program, please sign up at the website, or contact KEF’s Cherry Planet Coordinator, Greg Bowman (301-260-0821 or Grebwm@aol.com)
